Working under an International Estates Manager, our client requires an experienced British Butler for their new home in Notting Hill.

Candidates must already be living in, and familiar with, London. They will ideally offer fluency in French & English and be able to oversee and manage the smooth running of a large and fully staffed property in London.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and approachable, be familiar with working for a dynamic family with young children, and offer previous experience gathered in formally styled households.

Roles and Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ability to oversee small events
  • To coordinate and execute social functions and parties for adults & children
  • To oversee and ensure proper day-to-day running of the household always to a high standard 
  • To offer traditional Butler duties, including formal table and drink service
  • To train and oversee the housekeeping team and other domestic staff
  • Ensuring that the unique style of the home is maintained - working with designer as needed
  • Maintaining The Principal’s wardrobes
  • Ensure floral arrangements are up to scratch
  • To Pack & Unpack as required
  • To take care of the silver and art
  • Assume the role of main contact in the household (answers door & house phone)
  • Run errands as required
  • Offer knowledge of the correct care procedures for soft and hard finishes 
  • Ability to help with personal admin in the home and other PA services as needed, including coordinating restaurant bookings and managing the family diary
  • Log and maintains inventory of valuables
  • Dealing with contractors, various repair servicemen oversight
  • Liaise with US PA & Estates Manager as needed

Entry Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Highly organised, a good communicator
  • A proven "eye for detail" 
  • Extremely discreet, quiet and mindful of the family privacy
  • Significant experience working with large fully-staffed homes & homes with babies and young children
  • Friendly/happy/kind personality, a hard worker
  • Knowledge of etiquette and protocol
  • An eye for detail combined with an ability to anticipate needs
  • Must exude extreme professionalism
  • Preferably bi-lingual: fluent in English with a second language, preferably French or Spanish or Brazilian.
  • Flexible to travel with the family 3 to 4 months a year.

Eligibility

This role is based in London but the candidate should be flexible to travel, sometimes as short notice in the case of an emergency staff shortage, or to help with  a special event/occasion.
