House Manager Chelsea

£60,000 - £70,000 negotiable

 

Our client is seeking a House Manager for their Chelsea residence.

The correct candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised, overseeing the day to day smooth running of a household.  It is extremely important that that the correct candidate is able to multi task and has a good rapport with adults and children alike.  The House Manager would be required to hold a clean driving licence and be confident driving in London.  The House Manager would be responsible for managing a team of 3 house keepers (including a Head House Keeper) and a Chef.  There is also a Nanny who works as part of the team as well as security staff and therefore it would be necessary to liaise with the Security Staff as well as the Nanny and Principal Adult Occupant as required to ensure that the children of the Household are well cared for.  The Principal travels regularly and therefore consideration needs to be given in this regard.  The hours will be varied and it is necessary to ensure that rotas cover for late nights and weekends.  It will also be necessary for the House Manager to liaise with part of a larger Private Office team and PA’s.  The Candidate needs to have an excellent head for numbers and be able to manage budgeting and household reporting.

Roles and Responsibilities

General Duties to include:

  • Overseeing the household staff.
  • Knowledge of high social etiquette and formal service.
  • Knowledge of proper maintenance for fine dining equipment.
  • Receives guests at the door and supervises the reception of visitors.   
  • Assists with staff training and organises the duties and schedule of domestic staff.   
  • Keeping the household budgets and inventory supplies.   
  • Schedule and oversee household maintenance and other constructive duties.   
  • Assist with household content inventory list maintenance for insurance purposes.
  • Assist with household and family security measures within properties.
  • Oversee family packing and travel preparations.
  • Arranging restaurants, concerts, events and trips as requested
  • Assist with planning and organizing parties and events in the home.  
  • Answer resident telephone calls.   
  • Oversee and participate in proper table settings and entertainment preparation
  • Serve meals and drinks and performing waiting services related thereto.   
  • Demonstrate knowledge of wines and oversee the wine cellar and liqueur inventory
  • Serve as personal valet to the household and/or Principal Adult Occupant of the house.   
  • Liaison with other staff as needed, i.e., aircraft personnel, chauffeurs, yacht personnel, nanny, security staff and employees from other households within the family, and corporate office staff.  

 

House Maintenance

  • Ensuring continuous supply of the following utilities:  electricity, water,  sewage disposal, broadband for telephone, Internet and cable TV, gardening services, alarm system.
  • Maintaining custody of keys, access and collection
  • Receive tradespersons and oversee activities of all service providers in the House
  • Reporting to Employer damages to the house during and after any period of occupancy
  • Seeking quotations for making good repairs and implementing repair works as instructed.
  • Handling any requests for alteration, variation or construction, upon the consent and acceptance of the cost by Employer

 

Financials and Management

  • Assembling all invoices received and sending them to Employer on a monthly basis
  • Running and managing the various house expenses including petty cash and credit cards
  • Providing Employer with household expenditure forecast on an annual basis.

 

Support, Assistance and Communication

Maintenance and updating of: all manuals for building control equipment and domestic appliances; Emergency numbers in respect of security, natural calamities including contact with liability insurance carrier; plans for emergencies in relation to electricity, plumbing, water, telephone and broadband.
