The Role 

The Laundry Attendant is expected to support the Head Housekeeper with a wide range of operationally essential tasks. The Laundry Attendant is expected to work with the other members of the estate team to deliver the highest level of service to the estate. You will be working in a busy estate where the ability to think on your feet is expected.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will be expected to have extensive experience in the following areas:

  • To be responsible for day-to-day running of linen and laundry rooms as delegated by the Head Housekeeper.
  • To maintain estate linen, guest laundry and staff uniforms according to estate and family standards by monitoring condition of linens and repairing and/or replacing linens as necessary.
  • To ensure correct linen is issued for guests, functions and staff areas.
  • To co-ordinate linen inventories and have effective stock control.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical consumption and other operating supplies as required.
  • To work in a safe manner regarding lifting, utilising equipment, chemicals and protective devises.
  • To be flexible with working hours and adaptable to change.  Must be flexible to work weekends and Bank Holidays sometimes at short notice.  Time will be given in lieu when overtime is worked.
  • To be able to work with the latest in laundry equipment in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines and arranging repair when necessary.
  • Have a good knowledge of preventative maintenance for laundry equipment.
  • Willing to learn new skills and interested in their own personal and professional development.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Be physically fit and move laundry items as required.
  • Previous work experience of at least 2 years in hotel or private laundry.
  • A basic level of sewing skills is required.
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the laundry including washing, sorting, pressing, spot cleaning, and dry cleaning awareness.
  • Maintenance of general cleanliness within the laundry room.

Entry Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The Laundry Attendant is expected to have worked at the highest level of hotel service either within industry or had experience of working within a private house for UHNWI. Laundry Attendant is expected to work in partnership with the other members of the estate team to deliver the highest level of operational performance. You should be educated to an acceptable level and be able to demonstrate a wide range of skills and knowledge within your respective discipline.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Flexibility and adaptability to juggle a range of different tasks and to work extra hours to meet deadlines
  • Discretion and an understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Conversant in English.

This is a demanding and high pressure role running a private estate at 7* level. This role would best suit someone who is at the very top of their discipline and wants to take themselves and their team to the next level.
