CHEF I South Oxfordshire

We are looking for an exceptional private Chef, to work for a couple with three young children, in their formally styled, fully staffed country house in Oxfordshire.

The chef must be passionate about their trade, talented, flexible, and well-presented.  Furthermore, while the chef will need to present a wide repertoire and must be competent in the cooking of venison and game, the family’s natural preference is for the Mediterranean repertoire, or dishes with a Pacific-rim influence, created from the freshest, organic, ingredients - locally sourced whenever possible.

The chef must be able to cater for larger numbers. They must also show they are clever with the use of flavours and ingredients, and meticulous with the presentation of every dish, be it something that is individually plated, or on salvers, for larger occasions when the family are entertaining formally at their Scottish lodge.

The chef must work in an exceptionally clean, meticulous and organised fashion, be able maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, fridges, freezers and stores, and ensure the proper labelling of food items and rotation of ingredients. The chef must also exhibit an innate desire to keep waste to the absolute minimum.

The family are based full-time at their home in Oxfordshire, but the chef will be required to travel with them during school holidays, destinations include: Switzerland (predominantly during the ski season); The South of France & Scotland.

The Chef must be able to drive, as they will be solely responsible for sourcing local ingredients and provisions. 

Points to consider

• As with the majority of our clients, longevity in a previous position is preferred, as is previous experience of working for an UHNW, in a private household.
• The candidate must like dogs, as the family have four.
• The role can be live-in or live-out, although a lovely two-bedroom house on the Estate can be provided
• 5-days per week rostered in advance | 28 days holiday per annum | Workplace pension
• Candidates must present excellent checkable references, along with an Enhanced DBS is required (GBD can assist with this)
