Chef Vacancy, we are looking for an experienced, friendly and dedicated chef to work in the private household of our client (UHNWI) in Central London. The position will start in or after February 2023 and will be 5 / 5.5 days per week from Monday to Sunday (see further details re working hours below).

The household is very family orientated day-to-day with informal family meals but the principal is also a very busy corporate leader who entertains other VIPs and hosts larger functions at the house.

There is an established household team which includes a house-manager, security, nannies and housekeepers (one of whom helps with the family cooking on Fridays and some weekends). This is a new position, as the family have recently moved into their new home.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key requirements as follows:

  • Kosher food – the chef must respect all the basics of Kosher cooking when menu planning and whilst working in the kitchen.
  • Gluten free for lady of the house
  • Pescatarian/vegetarian mostly. They do like to eat the same primary ingredients on repeat, so imagination to make the ingredients taste different is important.
  • Child friendly food for 18 month old.

For family meals 

  • Focus will be on very healthy and fresh food choices /portion control
  • Weekdays the family will be present for lunch and dinner
  • Family typically eats out once a week and will inform the chef in advance

Guest Functions

  • Focus will be on healthy but more indulgent food choices
  • One work lunch or work breakfast a week (could be up to 2 per week). Usually between 2-7 guests.
  • Weekends one brunch with guests up to around 6 guests.
  • Dinner hosted once or twice a week (anticipated number of guests up to 12)
  • Family dinner for 8-10 guests every Friday evening.
  • Child and Nanny meals served at 12-12.30pm and 5-5.30pm.

  • Staff lunch for around 6 people served at 12pm.

  • Working hours:

    • As breakfast is not served daily, the working day would start later in the morning at 9 am.
    • During the week the family will eat supper by 7 pm and finish at around 8 pm
    • On weekends, if they are entertaining in the evening the workday will be longer.
    • 1 day off on a weekday, usually a Friday, and ½ - 1 day off during the weekend (there is plenty of time for taking time in lieu, as the family travel, generally at same time as school holidays, so Christmas / Easter / Summer, also the family have a European holiday home, and chef will not need to travel.
