Roles and Responsibilities

Cooking

During periods where there are no guests, you will prepare occasional (once/twice a week) family meals for the two principals. This role encompasses regular dinner party and shoot event cooking, as such the candidate for this role will need to be a passionate and able cook. Assistance is available in the kitchen in the form of the three full-time housekeepers and an external chef is available for the larger events. Training can also be given and is encouraged.

Housekeeping

You will manage a team of four live-out housekeepers ensuring the property is kept to an excellent standard, a hands-on approach is a must, however when guests are in situ, cooking will be the priority. The property is historically important and incorporates various high end soft and hard finishes, along with antiques, art, objects of value and furnishing which all require careful attention and TLC.

House Manager

Focusing on the day to day running of the household, maintaining a keen eye for detail for any discrepancies and liaising with the onsite maintenance team for fixes while taking a proactive approach to simple tasks such as changing light bulbs. As a live-in member of staff, an eye for security is also a priority.

Service

When guests are in residence you will adopt a front of house role, politely and respectfully engaging with guests, providing a warm welcome, serving drinks, overseeing cellar management, and generally making their stay an enjoyable one.

Accommodation

A self-contained, 2-bed apartment on the estate, accessed by own private entrance. Separate lounge, kitchen and private driveway.

Car provided for work purposes.

Larger dogs are welcome (but no cats or miniature breeds because of the risk posed to them by the large number of  chasers, hounds and retrievers on the estate) unfortunately children cannot be accommodated.

Entry Requirements

This is an ideal opportunity for a couple who have proven experience of working in historically important properties and/or shooting estates. However, strong candidates with excellent experience in respected households or deluxe hospitality environments will be considered if they can demonstrate the ability and desire to excel in the above areas. At least one member of the couple must be an excellent cook, while both need to be discreet yet personable, hands-on, flexible in their approach and comfortable around high-profile guests. Preferably both candidates will be able to drive and they must be dog friendly because the principals' two labradors must  be cared for when the principals are away.

DBS check required at offer stage
