Please Note: This role is open to a single person or a management couple. A management couple would need to offer general management skills along with greater, hands-on oversight for Housekeeping and F&B Service.

An Estate/General Manager is required for one of the premier private estates in Sainte-Maxime, France, a property which is used primarily through the Summer season and into early Autumn.

The property provides about 1700 sqm of exceptional interior designed living-space, there is a main house and a guest lodge, which sit in extensive gardens and park, set in an exclusive residential area overlooking the bay. In addition to more than 12 double en-suite guest suites there are numerous reception rooms, terraces,  a natural grass tennis court, swimming pool, yoga room, spa and a heli-pad.

During the winter and out of season, a small team are employed full-time, and  during the summer season an additional 10+ staff are hired on a 4-month (+/-) contract.

Salary and remuneration: An excellent salary is offered, DOE, and a contract following French Employment Law is provided as standard

Roles and Responsibilities

The General Manager will be responsible for the property throughout the year, ensuring that it is maintained in perfect condition and that it is always ready for the Summer.

  • Respond quickly and efficiently to the owner’s requests, or those of the guests or the principal’s representatives
  • The highest level of discretion is required and no information should be divulged regarding The Principal or his guests
  • Follow direction of the Chief of Staff and the Personal Assistants who accompany The Principal
  • Follow instructions from The SCI Manager (based in Paris)
  • Organize staff planning
  • Monitoring and organizing annual leave
  • Training and recruitment of staff
  • Oversee the running of the household, including staff,
  • Having an eye for detail is prerequisite!
  • Establishing and maintaining an annual budget for expenditure
  • Control of expenditure – making savings when and where possible
  • Establish and implementation of SOPs
  • Ensure that the house is kept in a good state of repair
  • Organize quotes and, after approval from General Director, implement work
  • Follow the work and ensure compliance with quotes provided
  • Update House Manual
  • Update inventories

Accommodation

The GM can be provided with a 2 bedroom villa, or he/she may prefer to live in their own home and commute (if that is a possibility)
