Head Gardener | Nr. St Remy de Provence, France

Circa 3000 Euros Net per month + benefits

An experienced Head Gardener is sought for a beautiful privately-owned estate in B. du Rhone, Provence, France.

The property which is used as a holiday home, sits on an established estate, consisting of 15+ hectares of secluded parkland, pine-woods & formal gardens. These include: a maze and extensive areas of topiary, olive groves, fruit and vegetable gardens, rose gardens, flower gardens (cutting for the house), numerous ornamental water features, monumental trellis, swimming pools, water basins along with outbuilding that include: staff properties, agricultural buildings, a guest house, a pool house and a tennis court pavilion.

Working closely with the client and her office, the head gardener will help shape the next chapter in the garden’s history. The gardens are classic in their design, and may be described as mature, having been laid-down approximately 40-years ago.

Joining a well-established team, the head gardener will be instrumental in taking things forward, respecting the formality and layout of the existing gardens which need to be nurtured and respected, while considering how carefully studied improvements and updates can be made to stimulate the visual appeal of the gardens, thus future proofing the design for the next decade.

Candidates will need to show a proven knowledge of horticultural practice along with team management skills, and will be able to show that they have at least 10-years’ head gardener experience gathered in respected and comparable gardens. It is particularly important that candidates show they are able to manage and develop the skills and enthusiasm of the existing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and enthusiastic person to further develop an outstanding estate.

Salary, commensurate with experience. Live out, but assistance with re-location may be considered.
