Head Housekeeper I Chippenham, Wiltshire

£35K+ pa annum (DOE)

 

The role is to work for a welcoming, fun loving family in their beautiful family home on a sporting estate in rural Wiltshire. The 7 bedroom house can be busy at times with 2 children living at home and 3 visiting regularly from university and regular lunches and dinners for guests. As a result the family are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic housekeeper who can think on their feet, manage their own time and be proactive. You will be joining a well established team of housekeepers, household staff and estate workers so the ability to work well with others is a must. The focus is very much about teamwork and communication which breeds a warm and welcoming working environment.

Driving licence is preferred, not necessarily for the role but this is a live in position in a very rural location. Accommodation, recently renovated bungalow with a garden. Shared one with other team member.

45 hours per week, split shifts, over 5 days including weekends. Days off would fall during the week when the house is quieter.

Salary based to be discussed upon application.

Roles and Responsibilities

Flexibility is important in this role, duties include but are not limited to:

General housekeeping: cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas daily. This is a large property with several outbuildings and you would be expected to go where ever necessary.

Laundry: all laundry is done in house so knowledge of general laundry practice, special fabric care, linen and ironing would be advantageous.

Preparing, setting and clearing tables after meals. Occasional cooking required; simple family meals. For events or larger parties a chef would be hired.

Processing the beautiful garden produce so it is ready to eat.

Deep cleaning and organisation: in the residents’ absence the team take care of all the deep cleaning of the properties, this includes care of brass and upholstery and a lot of organisation to ensure smooth running when the house is full.
