Daily Housekeeper | Sussex (Nr. Haywards Heath)

Circa £25K to £28K DOE 

 

We are seeking an experienced daily HOUSEKEEPER to work on a privately-owned estate, situated in Sussex, Nr. Haywards Heath, a 10-minute drive from the local train station, and 45mins from Victoria.

The Estate is used predominantly as a weekend residence by the owners and their young family of 2 children. The property includes a main-house with 7-bedrooms, and a guest house with another 4-bedrooms.

The housekeeper will work under the House Manager, while working closely with other members staff, delivering the highest possible levels of service to The Principals, their children, family & guests. 

The housekeeper will help maintain and present the house and annex in pristine condition and in a constant ready state. Candidates must show enthusiasm for their work and exhibit a practiced, keen eye-for-detail, strive for perfect results and take the old-fashioned approach that “if they do a job, it should be done properly”! 

Candidates will be expert in their field and offer at least 3 years’ similar experience, gathered in 5* deluxe hotels or private estates and household(s).

The job would suit someone who really enjoys, housekeeping duties and would like to work in a lovely house, and who gets pleasure from delivering exceptional levels of service to their clients.

  • Location: Private Estate / Nr. Haywards Heath
  • Hours: 5-Days a week / Thursday through Monday, 08:00 to 16:00 (flexible)
  • Salary: Circa £24K to £28K DOE 
  • Meals provided: Yes, while on duty

  • Leave Entitlement: 20 Days + Bank Holidays

IMPORTANT:

  • As normal for the hospitality industry, there may be the need to work some occasional evenings 
  • A car owner/driver would be beneficial but not essential

Roles and Responsibilities

  • CLEANING: hands-on general housekeeping and deep-cleaning duties, including but not limited to: preparing bedrooms and bathrooms, salons and dining rooms along with the care for fine furniture and hard and soft surfaces; art; antiques; soft furnishings and the polishing and care for a minimal amount of silver, brass, china, etc. 
  • STORAGE: Maintaining stores and cupboards in immaculate condition, with emphasis on overseeing perfect orderly storage (and helping to maintain up-to-date inventories)
  • LAUNDRY: Helping in the laundry with washing (hand and machine), drying, ironing and valeting. Returning washed and pressed items to the correct locations.
  • WARDROBES: Maintaining the wardrobes’ of The Principals, their Family and Guests, with emphasis on ensuring order and the correct method of storage for any given item 
  • KITCHEN & SERVICE: Assist house manager/chef with service. Clearing of table. Empty dishwasher, help with washing dishes etc

 

THE ROLE MAY ALSO REQUIRE

  • Candidates may be asked to attend training (proper use of cleaning chemicals/H&S etc) 
  • Wardrobe management and organisation skills 
  • Care for accessories, haute couture and gentlemen’s tailored clothing
  • Helping with packing and unpacking, ensuring proper storage of luggage etc
  • Cleaning/polishing shoes and leather accessories 

Entry Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • A happy and cheerful disposition 
  • A “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to understand the importance of Discretion and Confidentiality
  • Excellent checkable references
  • At least 3 years’ comparable experience (gathered in a 5* hotel or respected private estate will be considered a real advantage)
  • Must be happy and able to work as part of a team
  • Must show flexibility and adaptability and willingness to juggle a range of different tasks and to work extra hours to meet deadlines
  • Candidates must be happy to undergo a DBS (Criminal Record Check)
  • The candidate must likes cats, as there is one in residence!
