Housemanager I Kensington, London

£60,000k-£70,000k pa gross

 

A house manager is required to work for Principals who are very successful and aspire to continue and grow their business, philanthropic and personal pursuits. 

Working closely with the office manager and under the direction of the principals, the house manager will ensure the proper running of the principals London home, and maintain oversight for properties, staff and service providers in St Tropez and Gstaad.

The role will require flexibility and availability to travel over the classic holiday periods. Speaking English and French would be vital for the proper execution of the role and its responsibilities 

House related

  • Responsible for household budgets and making sure accounts are maintained for all properties
  • Monitoring purchases
  • Overseeing maintenance - liaising with contractors and gardeners, etc.
  • Logging of contractors to the property
  • Understanding and operating house systems/TV/WIFI/Security
  • Ensuring the property is stocked with items to ensure the smooth running of the property as a family home

 Staff related

  • Expect to be hands on and able to assist other personnel with their duties
  • Organisation of staff rotas (nanny/housekeeper/chef/tutors)
  • Training staff in the provision of expected service standards
  • Holiday planning and scheduling time off
  • Chairing staff weekly meetings 
  • In conjunction with principal and office manager, responsible for carrying out disciplinary procedures for staff under your supervision (nannies/household staff)

 Housekeepers

  • Ensuring there is a housekeeper in residence overnight 
  • Refine household staff set up
  • Implement/scheduling the necessary cleaning schedules

 Chef

  • House manager will be required to liaise with the chef on meal planning/prep and any foodstuff purchases; mealtimes will be agreed upon with consultation with nannies/parent.
  • Planning/discussing weekly menu
  • Breakfasts for the children
  • Planning ahead for week when chef is not working
  • Planning ahead for days when chef is off
  • Items in the freezer – so housekeepers can easily defrost something

 Pet Related

  • Overseeing and managing of pet care
  • Making sure that there is proper level of pet care and grooming in place at all times

 Principal

  • Undertake provisioning/shopping tasks and errands for principal 
  • Ensure the house correctly staffed to service the needs of the Principal and children
  • Oversee any personal requirements as and when needed
  • Prepare and serve drinks/light foods if required when principal in residence 
  • Responsible in assisting with principal’s lifestyle planning (vacations/parties/trips)

Children Related

Working with the parents, nannies and housekeepers, the house-manager will overview and keep him/herself informed of all the children related matters.

 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • A valid advanced DBS certificate
  • Proven experience working in a similar private family environment is vital
  • Excellent, checkable references 
  • Proven longevity in previous roles
  • Candidates must be flexible in terms of providing the necessary time to serve the requirements of the house.
  • Excellent language skills with English fluency; second languages such as French would be hugely beneficial
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Character traits sought include self-confidence, self-motivation and kindness and flexibility and a happy, positive, cheerful personality
  • Cleaning driving licence
  •  Recognised childcare or nursing qualifications would be advantageous
