Kitchen Porter | Bracknell

£15 net per hour

 

2 to 3 week contract | January 2022 

We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic KITCHEN PORTER to work on a privately-owned estate, situated in Bracknell. The estate is used for holidays by the owners and their family and is a very busy work environment.

The Kitchen Porter is tasked to work with the chef, to maintain the proper cleanliness of the kitchen, small equipment and utensils. The Kitchen Porter will also help to wash, dry, polish and correctly store tableware, including: silver and stainless cutlery along with china and crystal. When the kitchen is not busy, the Porter may be asked to undertake some limited house-keeping duties.

Candidates will have experience of working in a luxury hotel, quality restaurant or private estate, and will be able to show that they: follow instructions carefully and are mindful of the importance to deliver consistently high-levels of hygiene and cleanliness.

 

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

This will be a demanding role, helping to deliver high levels of service standards on a privately-owned estate. The job would suit someone who has some experience working in kitchens and the hospitality industry.

  • Location: Private Estate Nr Bracknell
  • Hours: 9 hours per day / overtime available
  • Salary: £15 net per hour  (PAYE & NI paid by client)  
  • Meals provided: Yes, while on duty
  • Travel Costs: Some financial assistance will be offered to help cover travel costs 

 

IMPORTANT

  • Candidates must live locally to Bracknell / or be able to get to Bracknell by car or train 
  • As normal for the hospitality industry, shifts will include evenings and weekend work
  • A car owner would be beneficial

Roles and Responsibilities

  • STORAGE: Maintaining kitchen equipment & utensils along with tableware in immaculate and hygienic condition, with emphasis on orderly and correct storage
  • CLEANING: the kitchen, equipment and utensils, with emphasis on ensuring proper use of cleaning chemicals and respect for health and safety regulation
  • HANDWASHING: All tableware, including reasonability for cleaning and polishing silver before and after use
  • REFUGE MANGEMENT: ensure proper division of refuge, management and cleanliness of the bins, helping to put out refuge on collection days
  • HOUSEKEEPING:When the kitchen is quiet or closed, the porter will be expected to assist with housekeeping duties in the main house or other properties on the estate

 

THE ROLE MAY ALSO REQUIRE

  • Helping Housekeeping department or Drivers (with car valeting/cleaning)
  • Dog walking / Feeding / Grooming

 

Entry Requirements

  • A happy and cheerful disposition
  • A “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to understand the importance of maintaining Discretion and Confidentiality
  • Good checkable references
  • At least 1 years’ experience working in hospitality/service industry
  • Previous experience in a 5* hotel or respected restaurant or privately-owned estate will be considered a real advantage
  • Must be happy to work in a small team and show the ability to follow instruction
  • Must show flexibility and adaptability and willingness to juggle a range of different tasks and to work extra hours to meet deadlines
  • Candidates must be happy to allow the employer to carry out a DBS (Criminal Record Check)
