CHEF VACANCY – Belgravia and Essex - Profile/Overview

The Principal requires a talented well-trained chef who is happy to move between his home in Belgravia and office on the boarder of Essex.

The chef is required to devise menus, shop, prepare and serve meals for The Principal and occasional guests.

The chef is expected to be able to prepare the following 3 meals as and when required:

  • Breakfast is eaten at home in Belgravia, between 08:00 and 09:00
  • Lunch is eaten at the office, there will also be the expectation that the chef will prepare staff lunch (approx. 10 in the office).
  • Dinner is sometimes eaten in the office or at home in Belgravia (Dinner is generally eaten at 18:30/19:30)

 

The Principal does travel 2 to 3 months each year, which provides the opportunity for the chef to catch up with time owed.

The successful candidate may have worked in respected hotels or restaurants but must also have (recent) experience of working in respected private homes and be able to present excellent written references (which can be verbally verified).

The Principal has no dependants, entertains only occasionally, and enjoys a quiet, healthy lifestyle. It is vital that the chef is able to provide beautifully presented meals that are visually attractive and tasty, nutritious and well-balanced, conforming to any dietary restrictions that may be followed at any given time.

Roles and Responsibilities

The chef will be required to present menus for approval on a weekly basis, he or she will then need to organise: menu-planning, shopping & food preparation while ensuring that: ingredients are correctly stored, stock is properly monitored, wastage is kept to an absolute minimum, the kitchen is always maintained in a tidy and hygienically perfect state and all receipts are properly audited and passed to the private office in a correct and timely fashion. The chef will also be required to serve meals, and wash-up and put things away after service. It is stressed that The Principal expects the kitchen to be left spotless after every service.

 

Candidate must have:

 

  • worked in a high-profile household
  • excellent references
  • a clean driving license
  • excellent knowledge of the rules of etiquette, protocol and good manners
  • the ability to always remain professional in every circumstance
  • the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • have a pro-active approach to work
  • a Clean Police Record and be happy to undergo a DBS Check

 

While it is important that Candidates present the right credentials, the client would also like to emphasise that they expect to find a chef who has

 

  • A real love and passion for cooking and their profession
  • An understanding that work in a private home requires a proactive and forward-thinking approach
  • A quietly friendly and flexible nature

 

The client also wishes to find a chef that shows longevity in their previous roles and a desire to seek a long-term working commitment to their new employer.
